Mina Choi, Co-founder and Marketing Director of Polaris Bio Co., Ltd., delivered Special Paper 2 at ASEAN Palm Carbon (APC) 2026, held at Resorts World Awana, Genting Highlands, Malaysia, on 16 and 17 October 2026. The conference was hosted by the Palm Oil Millers’ Association (POMA) and co-hosted by the Malaysian Estate Owners’ Association (MEOA).

Her presentation, “Making Biogas Viable for Smaller Mills: Malaysia’s First Article 6.2 Project with the Government of Korea”, set out how small and medium-sized palm oil mills can convert palm oil mill effluent (POME) into Bio-CNG. For these mills, Bio-CNG sales alone rarely recover the investment. Internationally Transferred Mitigation Outcomes (ITMOs) generated under Article 6.2 of the Paris Agreement are what make the projects viable.

The model builds on the Terengganu Palm Oil Mill Biogas Upgrading Project, the first Malaysia–Korea project formally recognised by the Malaysian Government under Article 6.2.

Polaris Bio also hosted an exhibition booth throughout the conference and met government agencies, industry associations and mill operators interested in the programme. The company is now selecting further mills to join the Korea–Malaysia Article 6.2 Bio-CNG programme.
